Located on the Columbus Airport Campus, Propeller is a new community maker space. LAA Office worked with the Columbus Chamber of Commerce and Airpark leaders to conduct stakeholder engagement sessions and orchestrate a crowd-sourced fundraising campaign through Patronicity. The objective was to create low cost strategies for placemaking around two repurposed, industrial buildings. Implemented mostly by volunteers, public space elements including lighting, furniture, planters, wayfinding signage, an outdoor kitchen and viewing platform create social gathering spaces for members. Public artworks by Nick Abstract give the buildings a much needed face lift and forge a unique identity for this new, non-profit organization.
